* You guys ever notice how CBS has the % Owned and % Started Feature when you set your lineup? Is there a more useless feature to a Fantasy League than this? Not only does CBS think it is helping the bozos in the league who are too incompetent to set their own lineups, but it is pointless! Take Tim Hightower for example. Only 26% of Fantasy Teams in all of CBS Fantasy Football have Tim HIghtower on their active roster. So when Edge goes down week 3, it's going to be rather interesting to see the 74% of Owners fighting to pick up this year's sleeper. Ricky Williams starting in only 36% of leagues? I guess we don't smoke pot.
* I don't know about you guys, but I already can't stand this 4 day waiting period for a trade to go down. I don't even remember voting on this. This is America people, we want instant gratification! Keep in mind that if you want to make a trade for THIS COMING WEEK'S LINEUP - it must be done by Tuesday night, or at least according to Nicky's calculations.
* One major cockblock prevalent to Fantasy owners this year more than any other is that damn Running Back by Committee Approach. (RBBC). It forces owners to draft handcuff RBs in case of an injury, or because they split carries 70/30. There is nothing worse than having a Top 10 back get injured, and some other scum-bag having his backup. I think we are going to see a TON of trades this year because of it. OB was forced to trade his 4th WR to Nicky for Ray Rice, just because of the uncertainty surrounding Willis McGahee. Then again, in my opinion, RR has a WAY higher ceiling than Galloway. But OB needed to make the trade in order to solidify his Baltimore Running Game. Think of it like Monopoly. You would think that the individual players are worth more to your team, but in order to win the Milton Bradley Game, you need to establish monopolies and you need to take everybody else's money. I guess Nicky and OB set the market for a RBBC as of now.
* Is there anything worse than these new tailgating rules at Giants Stadium for Giant/Jet games? They are going to limit the number of hours for tailgating? If anything, it encourages people to drink harder during those 5 hours to make up for the lost 2 hours they took from us. Think the traffic is bad after games? Wait til you see the line getting in. I can't wait.
* Daunte Culpepper retired because he apparently cannot find work. It seems like yesterday Cleary took him 8th overall in the BCFFL Draft. Tavaris Jackson will be joining him in a few years, mark my words.

Show Me the Money: Picks Week 1
NFL:
* Giants (-4.5) over Redskins
Thought Process: Even if the Skins are a Super Bowl Team, which they aren't, it takes time to adjust to new systems. They just installed the WCO and have a new HC, new DC and new OC. No Strahan, No Osi, No problem. The Giants ranked 11th in the league in sacks by DL last year, whereas they ranked #1 in overall sacks. The Giants have arguably the most creative Defensive Coordinator in the league, and you can be sure that Spags will be prepared with many blitz packages and substitutions to confuse Jason Campbell. Campbell doesn't scare me as a QB, but the Skins would be smart to get him in a rhythm early with short dump offs to Sellers, Portis, Betts, Cooley, etc. Moss and Randle El are #2 and #3 WRs respectively, on most teams. I think this is a statement game for the World Champs and the final score will make it seem closer than it really is.
Final: Giants 34 Skins 23
* Jets (-3) over Dolphins
Thought Process: The Jets know all about Chad, but thats stating the obvious. I am really high on the Jets this year. I think they could end up with the best D in the AFC East. Mangina is going to get after the QB early and often. They didn't spend all that money on Calvin Pace for him to stay back and cover Anthony Fasano this week. The Jets have better depth at every position than the Phins. It maybe a close game, but the Jets and Frett Bavre walk away with a W.
Final: Jets 24 Dolphins 16
*UPSET SPECIAL*
* Texans (+6.5) over Steelers
Thought Process: I like the Texans this year. They ranked in the Top 5 in the NFL in passing last year, granted it was because their Defense sucked last year. The Texans have 3 of the most talented "Under 25" players in the league: Mario Williams, Amobi Okoye and Demeco Ryans. All 3 of these guys are going to be mainstays at the Pro Bowl for years. I don't know if they have what it takes to upset the Steelers at home, but this up and coming team could/should cover.
Final: Steelers 27 Texans 24
BCFFL Picks:
* Mike (+13) over Tim
Thought Process: From top to bottom, I think MIke has just as good of team as mine, if not better. This CBS spread is way to high. I don't quite understand the "Preview" on CBS sportsline, but I am going to use these as the betting lines for the Newsletter. Nobody knows what to expect Week 1, except every owner thinks they have the best team. So every owner is confident they will win Week 1. The season is long, but we will learn a lot about our teams in the 1st week. Manning (banged up) vs. Chicago D scares me.
* MJ (+5) over Harrch
Thought Process: I'm loving the Sibling Rivalry week 1. I like Harrch's team, but post-draft, I thought MJ had a superior team. Can't see how Harrch is favored (LT anyone?). I love how Mike and I play each other, Harrch plays MJ, but the Pollards don't sqaure off. Is Dean afraid of Nicky? He made the schedule. MJ has good matchups this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if Harrch wins. I am no Guru at picking these games, I do it for fun.
* Kenny (-3) over OB
Thought Process: OB has little depth outside of his Top 2 RBs, Top 2 WRs. Granted Brees and K2 are elite at their position, but do Deuce and Ray Rice have what it take to upset the Reigning Champ this week? I would be inclined to say yes because you never bet against Randy Moss, but it's not like Kenny had a weak draft. His team is strong.
I only chose 3 games so I don't start the season off 0-5. Don't take offense to my predictions and please do not bet the NFL games I choose, unless you want to lose. I have zero confidence in any of my picks this week. But then again, it is Week 1 in the NFL.
Make sure you set your lineups.
Waivers start next week.
Signing Out,
TT
